I would NEVER go back or refer Mahkeeva to my friends or family. I went to her to file for my taxes through a friends referral. I had her file my fathers taxes along with mine. At that time, she had only filed for my father and told me that she will submit my taxes once I made my IRA contribution. She told me that I would still have to pay her in advance if I wanted her to file my tax, which I had no problems doing. I paid her cash. $125 for my father and $175 for myself. After discussing my returns and weighing out my options, I decided to go with the option of making a contribution for a higher return. Once I completed my contribution, I reached out to her to inform her so she can go forward with filing my tax. She then calls me to tell me she messed up while filing and forgot to list me under a NYC resident which now resulted in a lower return. With that new return, I was better off not making a contribution but now the damage was too late. We both agreed that she would reimburse me $50 and charge me $125 for my return. As soon as I received the zelle, I requested her to send me an electronic copy via email. During the phone call where she explained she messed up, she was super quick to want to hang up because her daughter was missing and she needed to call 911. Almost sounded like she didn’t want to deal with the situation. So I kindly told her to handle her business and she can get back to me once things settle down. Anyways, throughout the week I texted her saying I did not receive my email copy. No response. I even called her during her office hours and it gave me a weird dial tone and went to voicemail. I had a feeling she blocked me so then I called using a friend phone where it rang fully rather then straight voicemail. At this point, I feel like I got caught up in a fraud. I became nervous as she would not respond to any text or calls. So one night after waiting a week for her response— I emailed her asking her to contact me. This woman sends me the most unprofessional GHETTO email telling me to never contact her and actually threatens me. Her email was as followed: Hello Monika, What are you talking about on a Sunday at 950pm? Who would even answer your calls at this time of the night? Your taxes have been filed. What else do you want? Please don't contact me again at this time of night email, phone or text. Professional or not? I run a boutique tax firm. I am disengaging you and your father. If you contact me again you will have bigger problems than your mother. Please don't play with me. Makeeva This woman is beyond unprofessional and ghetto. If you are going to charge clients for your services, then kindly provide them with the proof and documents. Anytime I filed for taxes, I always receive a copy either print out or electronically. I had to chase her for something I PAID and even then was impossible for her to complete. It’s a disgrace that she runs a business. I’m sure her firm is full of highly professionals. But if I had a business, she would not be one of the faces or member representing my firm. And to think I was going to send my family and friends to her. Always do your research before getting services. I learned my lesson.

Makeeva is the most unprofessional tax preparer I have ever dealt with. She messed up my taxes and when I contacted her about the numerous errors she refused to respond to me. I had to send her a nasty text to finally get a response from her daughter saying that she was in the hospital with pneumonia and can’t speak. It’s been almost a year and to this day my issue has not been resolved. Stay far away people.
